Art with explanations! I may group like types together at some point as I add more content, though many categories overlap–interconnectedness being my whole thing. It’s so easy to find ways in which we’re different. To prey on fear. May be cheesy (or Ice Creamony), but I want to find ways we’re the same.

Additionally, Ambivalentine is a portmanteau2 of Ambivalent and Valentine. I’m definitely ambivalent about Valentine’s Day as a commercial holiday or any saintly expectations for it. But I like making fun or meaningful traditions with people I love. And I’m not ambivalent at all about people showing love for whomever they love regardless of things like gender, race, or orientation.

- Ambiguous Figures: a figure (in this case art) that can be seen as portraying different things depending on one’s perspective or perception. This can be based on optical illusions, or point of view, or merely one’s own a priori assumptions like “The Dress” which can be seen as blue and black or white and gold. My designs primarily make use of viewing angle. ↩︎
- Portmanteau: A word comprised of two different words or word roots. Ambivalentine is a portmanteau of ambivalent and valentine. Quicksilverlining is a portmanteau of quicksilver and silver lining. It’s my favorite despite not having its own site yet. To me at least, it conveys the idea that the silver lining may be mercurial and ever-changing, but it’s there. ↩︎
- Ambigram: A word that can be read right-side up or upside down. Most of the ambigrams I’ve created to this point read the same either direction, but some can be read as a different word. ↩︎
- Pun: I assume most people know what a pun is, but I just want to point out that there can be multiple meaning via either sight or visuals. In the case of Mountain faces, you have both. These mountains have both traditional rock faces and human faces. Plus there are two human faces. Yay. ↩︎
